Transforming Lives Through Education: The Story of AmMELIa, Nanda, and Our Shared Mission

At Origin of Hearts, our story goes beyond crafting resortwear. Since our inception in Bali, our brand has been deeply intertwined with a mission to uplift and empower those in need. Our hearts are tied to a special place - the orphanage in the Gianyar area, where 178 children call home. These kids are not just faces in a crowd; they are our family, our inspiration, and the reason behind our unwavering commitment to creating change.

From the very beginning, we’ve dedicated ourselves to improving their living conditions. Over the years, together with our dear friend Ab, we’ve provided essential items like mattresses, pillows, and bed sheets. We’ve repaired bathrooms, halls, roofs, and the overall premises to ensure they have a safe and comfortable environment. Beyond physical improvements, we’ve focused on sustainability by helping the orphanage establish a permaculture garden - a source of fresh vegetables and a symbol of self-reliance.

Our journey with these children extends far beyond material support. We’ve shared moments of joy and growth through activities like English classes, yoga, singing, dancing, and even sound healing. Yet, one of our proudest achievements has been supporting their education, especially for the bright minds who dream of university - a dream that is often unattainable for them.

Ammelia’s Journey: A Beacon of Hope
Ammelia is one of those bright minds. Having grown up in the orphanage, her journey to university was nothing short of remarkable. With Origin of Hearts’ support, she pursued accounting in Denpasar and graduated this year with an impressive academic record. Amalia’s success is not just her own; it’s a testament to what can be achieved when we come together to support someone’s potential. Her graduation fills us with pride and motivates us to extend similar opportunities to others.

Nanda’s Story: A New Chapter of Hope
Today, we have embarked on a new mission to support Nanda, another child from the orphanage. Nanda’s story is one of resilience. Originally from Java, he has been living at the orphanage for about five years. His father passed away, and his mother, unable to care for him, moved to Jakarta in search of work. Sadly, Nanda has not seen her for years. Despite these challenges, Nanda has shown incredible promise. Now in his first semester at university in Klungkung, he dreams of a brighter future, and we are honored to help him realize it.
